Impressions from the project process
Already during the construction phase, the Al Hamra Tower stood out through its timeless elegance which was achieved by turning the external facade by 130 degrees.
Construction of the wing walls with their twisted surface areas was carried out with great precision using PERI SKS/VARIO climbing formwork units.
The 412 m high Al Hamra Tower was the new landmark on the Persian Gulf. With help of PERI work solution, a very distinctive structure was created with an extremely unusual form.
The customised combination of different PERI climbing formwork systems allowed the construction of the varying storeys to be carried out in regular eight-day cycles.
The vertical core wall on the southern side exhibited numerous differently-positioned and diagonally set window openings which could be climbed over with the PERI ACS system without any problems.
On the external facades, the RCS climbing protection panel provided the required protection for the construction of floor slabs as well as the edge beams.
The Al Hamra Tower is situated on the eastern lifeline of Kuwait City, near the characteristic water towers.

The PERI systems were easily adapted to suit the constantly changing geometry of the Al Hamra Towers. The SCS and ACS climbing systems were easy to handle and featured high safety standards. In addition, the RCS Climbing Protection Panel provided safe working conditions. With SKYDECK, the slabs could easily be formed by hand even during strong winds which reduced crane requirements. Altogether, the PERI systems made it possible to have an 8-day cycle and have greatly contributed to the success of the Al Hamra project.
